AS MONEY GETS STRONGER AND SHOWS OFF HIS GUNS TO THE GOVERNMENT..........
MOTHER NATURE IS PLOTTING HER ATTACK.........AND NO AMOUNT OF MONEY IN THE WORLD(LOL) CAN SAVE US FROM THE NATURAL DISASTER THAT WILL OCCUR...........

BLOG 8 MOTHER NATURE IS ALL WE GOT.......

In the past several weeks I have posted the ups and downs that I have with the environment, asking myself how much do I really care about this earth? How many lives can I change by showing the importance of global warming? What individuals that I try to reach out too would really take this crisis seriously? With every passing day we are given updates on how bad the environment is doing, we sometimes don't even need the news to tell us the weather because we experience it everyday, we are also shown the consequences of what could happen if we don't do something about global warming. I feel that our generation has an OBLIGATION to take care of the only planet we live on EARTH.....The Al Gore film was on TV the other day and I watched the movie, now as I watched the film I began learning new things about the film and myself. As I watched the film I felt like one of those parents that get slapped in the face by their ungrateful adolescent and are lefted puzzled by their actions towards them. That's what we have become irresponsible and disrespectful teenagers, running around littering and taking advantage of the only planet we have got. Mother Nature has given us so much to live for and so many things to be grateful for. As i sit here and write this I ask myself if society ever wonders how much damage has it had on the environment. And for how long will we let our actions continue to be the same. Now I have deiced to take a small step in helping the environment. In my house I have tried have try to get everyone to minimize the use of paper towels and decided to buy hand towels to clean the house, I have also have tried not take no longer than 20 minutes in the shower and also try not to have every single light bulb on in the house. Al Gore tells us that its not a political issue but a moral one, and if we allow the ice glaciers to melt, and let it flood the world then we deserve the consequences ......Ask yourself this why are we harming MOTHER NATURE? What did she ever do to you? Then ask yourself this how many earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunami's, natural disasters, have to occur in order for you to get the message and do something?????

Blog 7 THE PLANET ISN'T YOUR PERSONAL WASTE LAND.....

Why do certain people feel that the world is their personal wasteland??? What upsets me the most is that if you were to tell someone anything they get highly offended......Really I offended you? I wonder how many years you've been offending mother earth? I was with a group of friends a few days ago and we had gone to one of the fast food places, we ordered the food to go and one of my friends had finished their soda. Now my friend instead of doing the right thing and throwing out his cup in the garbage he placed the cup on the sidewalk and walks away. I then picked up the cup and held the cup in my hand for the entire walk home and then went into his house and threw the cup in his house. He at first started lauging about the fact that I had held the empty cup for the entire walk home, but when we got to his house and I put the cup in house his he was n't laughing anymore. He started getting into an arguement with me and told me if I was crazy, I just walked away. The next day I told him why I did what I did, and explained to him that if he got upset over the fact that I left 1 empty cup in his house try to imagine how many empty cups there are laying around in the world. My message to him and everyone else is that just like he at first thought of my action of picking up the empty cup from the floor as a joke and then he became upset when I threw the cup in the house, is that its not ok to take the environment so lightly and its not cool to throw garbage on the floor. Just like my friend was quick to change reactions, mother nature's reaction can change with its drastic climate. So please remember the PLANET ISN'T YOUR PERSONAL GARBAGE........

BLOG 6 USB VERSUS PAPER

This picture is provided to me by

My efforts of trying to go green, has been small but I try to contribute whatever I can. Now realizing all the time I spend wasting tons of paper(what can I say I'm addicted to paper) I have tryed to in few weeeks tryed to save all my work on a USB driver. I'm well aware that this device has been out for out quite sometime but I guess I have never really bothered. With the USB I'm able to save all my work on this little thing and there isn't any need for me to carry arounds tons of paper. The USB device is great invention for anyone that wants to make a difference in the environment by not wasting TONS of paper. The USB which stands for Universal Series Bus was introduced in November '95, the USB was promoted by Intel(UHIC and open software). Microsoft (Windows stack softwar), Philips (Hub, USB-Audio), US-robotics.

USB purpose was intended to replace the multitude of connectors at the back of PCs, as well as to simplify software configurartion of commmunication devices. USB 1.1 came out in September 1998 to help rectify the adoption problems that occurred with earlier iterations of USB. Throughout the years USB has released upgraded versions of the USB driver its gone from 1.1 to 3.0 , USB's are a great way to save your school work, pictures, powerpoints, etc. This device is the size of a double AA battery that fits in your pocket and weighs practically nothing, the USB is affordable in most places(depending on the GB). Trying your local Circuit City, Best Buy, or Staples could be a great place to could find a USB driver prices run from $15-$80( like I said depending on the GB)........Its a beneficial device that can help you carry all your work without having to worry about carrying tons of paper (just think about how well organized you could be with your school work). LETS NOT TRY TO SAVE PAPER BUT MAKE IT A PRIORITY.............TODAY'S ACTION'S ARE TOMORROW'S CONSEQUENCES........................

BLOG 4 WEIGH IN........

Alright in the picture that I'm holding up the garbage it weighed in at 1.4lbs which means that my wthe total weigh is 273.2lbs. Now thats crazy I can't believe all the garbage I could consume in a matter of a few days.... All I had consumed in those two days was a aluminum container that i ate sandwich out of, a plastic container that i soup out of, couple of napkins, plastic fork , a piece of fruit and gum wrappers. Just imagine all the garbage i consume an entire year. It would probably take up my entire apartment. In my experiment I didn't use any bottles, glass or cans just to see what the lighter thing would way out to, and boy was I surprised...

BLOG 2 RESEARCH REWRITTEN

Alright, so I typed in Global warming in yahoo search and I got this site called United States Environmental Protection Agency, that is basic break down of everything that needs to be down for you to play your part in the environment and it explains to you how we the planet got in the state of emergency its in right now. Recycling of newspapers, cardboard, magazines, plastic bottles, food and drink cans. Saving water in your home like saving hot water can lowergreenhouse gas emissions, turning off your water when brushing your teeth and while shaving. Here is something that i didn't know every time I flush the toilet for no reason, water is being wasted. um...... Interesting....... Try to reuse products that can be used like for example instead of wasting $10 on a pack of 24 water bottles, invest your money in a plastic or glass bottle buy a brita and use puried water form your home. Another we should try doing is trying to conserve energy with lighting products its not really necessary to have every light in the house when you are in the bathroom? Another piece of advise when buying products for the house try to get ENERGY STAR they have over 50 products to chose from lighting home electronics, heating and cooling equipment, and appliances. That website by the way is www.epa.gov/climatechange.

TAKING THE ENVIRONMENT SERIOUSLY

Ok, I have noticed in recent weeks that I haven't really been taking this blog thing seriously and not looking at the bigger picture. This assignment goes far beyond me getting these 10 points on my blog, but its about me putting my part in the environment. 5, 10, 15 years from now lord willing I'm going to be living on this planet and my actions towards mother earth have consequences whether I want to except them or not. In recent weeks I have been using paper towels like crazy, dumbing garbage on the street, printing extra paper that I don't really need, asking for double bags for two or three items, and doing things I know will effect me eventually. Like the shifts of weather from one day to another is definitly going to effect my health. Just in this week alone in the mornings its freezing at night its hot, then the next day its the other way around or then it rains????? I guess global warming is catching up faster than we anticipated. Now I got to take initative and finally decide to do something with myself in my role as a human being.

Blog 3-Personal Belongings

On a typical day I use and waste alot of stuff, first thing I use is my toothbrush to brush of course the colgate teeth( I usually let the water run). After that I turn on the t.v. and watch NY1 for the weather, and then I complain to myself abotu how its still hot in October when I am one of the people that contribute to global warming. I leave the t.v. in mute with none in the living room, I then turn on the shower and also let that run for a good 10 minutes(don't ask why). Ok, so I took a shower got dressed and leave for school. I usually buy a nutrigran bar or something fast to eat if I'm in a rush I throw the garbage on the floor or on the subway platform. I carry with me my !pod(sometimes), phone, money and gum. Thats about alL I carry with me, I have notebook filled with looseleaf even thoguh two of my classes don't require it. I have tendency at home to use alot of bounty for any absolute reason.I guess thats why its called the quicker picker upper BOUNTY.........HA....HA...HA.....corny.......

I also like to leave any electronic device in my home on whether or not I'm using it, and i really don't pay attention to the actions i take to the environment. Though that Inconvenient Truth Documentary should be a wake up call for me.

BLOG-1 WHAT EFECT DO I HAVE ON TODAY'S ENVIRONMENT??????

Now to be honest I don't feel that in the short period of time of me living on planet earth its had any major affect on the planet that I live in (I mean really its only been 21 years). Now do I still feel that I have contributed to the wasteland filth we live in now and days DEFINITLY. I chose this experiment over the food one is because I started noticing the sudden shift in the climate in recent weeks. Now I don't know if anyone's noticed but back in mid-August on a few nights it was pretty cold. Don't you think it being a little strange it being cold in the month of August in NEW YORK???

Throughout the years I was the stupid kid who would throw garbage out of my Dad's car, or constantly use an entire paper towel and use it for the stupidest purpose and then throw it out. I have tendency of taking a shower for a really long time, or when i brush my teeth I keep the water running. Instead of recycling the looseleaf that I use I just throw out in the regular garbage. In other words I don't think twice of what effect this is having on the environment. I mean really who is constantly thinking about the environments condition?????? Its not like I went around and said to myself "By me drinking this plastic water bottle and throwing it out and not recyclying I am hurting the planet". REALLY LETS BE REALISTIC!!!!!

We live in a more selfish society wrapped around the stupidest things the latest cell phone, video game systems, what celebrity did what, or to busy getting drunk then get into a fight with no meaning less purpose. Now to sit here and write this and say I'm not part of everything I mentioned then I would be lying to myself and to you the reader. So with all those distractions that we keep ourselves occupied with who takes the time to think about the ENVIRONMENT...

MY BIO

About Me

My name is Lazaro Rodriguez and I live in Flushing, Queens. The home of the New York Mets, not that I really watch baseball its just something I tell people when they ask where I live. I have been living in Flushing for a really long time, a lot of changes have occurred in the 17 years that I have lived here. The entire neighborhood now is overpopulated with banks, one store closes and one bank opens they pop up like zits. It was neighborhood that had a lot more variety of things to do as opposed to now. We had more department stores to go to like Woolworth and Caldor. I guess all these changes occurred around the summer of ’96. Change is bond to happen with time and I guess time caught up with my neighborhood. I currently go to LaGuardia Community College and majoring in Liberal Arts Media Studies,I guess the reason why i chose this major was because I want to make movies that inspire a generation than actually making a quick buck. I'am really into movies that are mainly from the 1980’s, movies like Platton(1986),Wall Street(1987), Less Than Zero (1987), and Bright Lights Big City(1988)The kind of films I would like to do films like Less Than Zero(1987) Wall Street (1987) or Bright Light, Big City(1987), all these films are really raw and explicit.

When I’m not in school I go to work, I work in an Italian restaurant in the city. I’m a busboy, its an ok job the perks I guess has to be that I always get to see movies or commercials being filmed. About three weeks ago they were filming 2 movies at the same time one of them was the Sex and The City Movie and another was a Kristen Dunst film. Last week I met Hype Williams he was filming a Dolce and Gabana commercial, it was really late it was around 1am in the morning. If anyone doesn’t know who that is he is a hip-hop music video director has worked with Jay-Z, P.Diddy, Biggie, Nas, Janet Jackson etc. He seemed like a nice guy but seeing as that he was really busy, I spent most of my time talking to his assistant Chazz. Hopefully one day I will be able to make movies that people that people will stop me and say thanks for making such a great film.
